  • A first-in-class consumer product, backed by clinical data: In a randomised trial of more than 1,000 real-world episodes, Klario cut the risk of repeat hypos by 27% and reduced “hypo hangover” effects, compared with standard glucose-only products.
  • A four-person team with an outsized track record: Flow Health Science has been named an ADA Innovation Challenge finalist (top 5 globally), won Best Health Innovation at the World Food Innovation Awards, and was named Innovative StartUp of the Year (London) at the UK StartUp Awards.

London, UK – Flow Health Science is the London-based advanced nutrition company behind Klario®, a first-in-class hypoglycaemia recovery drink for people living with diabetes. Klario tackles the “hypo hangover” — the fatigue and brain fog that can persist for hours after a low blood sugar episode — by combining 15g of fast-acting carbohydrates with additional energy sources in a convenient, ready-to-drink format. In a randomised clinical trial analysing more than 1,000 hypoglycaemic episodes, Klario was associated with a 27% reduction in recurrent hypos, with participants reporting faster relief of hypo symptoms, reduced hypo hangover effects, and feeling more in control when managing episodes, compared with standard glucose-only treatment.

The four-person team has spent the past year building on this science with a body of clinical and industry validation: publication in the leading peer-reviewed journal Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, an ADA Innovation Challenge Finalist place (top 5 globally), Best Health Innovation at the World Food Innovation Awards, and Innovative StartUp of the Year at the UK StartUp Awards (London). Now, Co-founder and CEO Georgia Myers adds a further accolade — named among Innovate UK's 100 Women Entrepreneurs in the Women in Innovation Awards' 10th anniversary cohort, selected from a record 1,590 applications.

“Building a clinically-proven product in an underserved space hasn't been easy, and this recognition is a real vote of confidence — not just in me, but in Klario's science and the team behind it. We're just getting started: this support couldn't come at a better moment as we gear up for our next phase of growth.” — Georgia Myers, Co-founder and CEO, Flow Health Science

Klario®: A Novel Approach to Hypoglycaemia Management

Hypoglycemia represents a critical therapeutic challenge in diabetes management: people with T1D may experience 100–200 treatment-related episodes annually. Current recommended therapeutic interventions using glucose-only treatments frequently result in suboptimal outcomes, including rapid glucose fluctuations, persistent neuroglycopenic symptoms, and fear-driven non-adherence to medication. Klario, a novel multi-substrate energy formulation combining glucose with BHB, was designed to achieve more complete recovery from hypoglycemia. In line with medical guidelines, Klario delivers 15 grams of fast-acting carbs to raise blood glucose quickly, while also raising BHB levels acutely. This combination formula improves glycemic control in the immediate post-treatment period and provides rapid, sustained neuroglycopenic recovery.
