- Flow Health Science has been shortlisted in two categories at the Pharma Industry Awards UK 2026: Innovation of the Year and Best Emerging Start Up.
- Klario®, the company's flagship product, is contending for Innovation of the Year — recognised as the first innovation in hypo self-care for 100 years with its proprietary MESH™ formulation shown to outperform standard glucose in a randomised clinical study of over 1,000 hypoglycaemic episodes.
- The Best Emerging Start Up nomination recognises Flow Health Science's role in building the category of advanced nutrition – clinically proven, mechanism-driven functional foods that combine clinical-grade R&D with the accessibility of modern consumer brands.
London, UK – Flow Health Science, the London-based advanced nutrition company behind Klario®, has been named a finalist in two categories at the Pharma Industry Awards UK 2026, which recognise the most original and innovative individuals and companies demonstrating excellence over the past 12 months.
The company is shortlisted for Innovation of the Year for Klario®, a first-in-class hypoglycaemia recovery drink built on a proprietary MESH™ formulation. In a randomised clinical study analysing more than 1,000 hypoglycaemic episodes, Klario was associated with a 27% reduction in recurrent hypoglycaemia and significantly faster cognitive recovery compared to glucose-only products. The research behind Klario has produced 10 peer-reviewed publications and abstracts, with findings presented at major international diabetes conferences, including EASD, Diabetes UK and ADA.
Flow Health Science has also been shortlisted for Best Emerging Start Up, recognising the company's work establishing advanced nutrition as a new category in healthcare: clinically proven, mechanism-driven functional foods that merge clinical-grade R&D with the accessibility of modern consumer brands.
“We are pleased to be shortlisted across two award categories – it reflects the strength of the science behind Klario and the scale of ambition behind Flow. We are proud of what the team has achieved, and this recognition supports our momentum into the next stage of growth.” — Tara Lumley, Chief Strategy & Business Officer, Flow Health Science
The double shortlisting builds on a strong run of recognition for the company over the past year, including the publication of Klario's clinical trial results in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, a finalist place in the ADA Innovation Challenge (top 5 globally), Best Health Innovation at the World Food Innovation Awards, and Innovative StartUp of the Year, London.
About the Product
Klario®: A Novel Approach to Hypoglycaemia Management
Hypoglycemia represents a critical therapeutic challenge in diabetes management: people with T1D may experience 100–200 treatment-related episodes annually. Current recommended therapeutic interventions using glucose-only treatments frequently result in suboptimal outcomes, including rapid glucose fluctuations, persistent neuroglycopenic symptoms, and fear-driven non-adherence to medication. Klario, a novel multi-substrate energy formulation combining glucose with BHB, was designed to achieve more complete recovery from hypoglycemia. In line with medical guidelines, Klario delivers 15 grams of fast-acting carbs to raise blood glucose quickly, while also raising BHB levels acutely. This combination formula improves glycemic control in the immediate post-treatment period and provides rapid, sustained neuroglycopenic recovery.
